A Couple Of Days To Go! £420 raised so far for St Luke's - THANK YOU! Please Sponsor Squeamish Mrs Bongo to EAT CRITTERS at The Nantwich Food Festival!
Yes on 6th September in St. Mary's, Nantwich I will be doing the Critter Chomp Challenge to raise money for St. Luke's Hospice (Cheshire) and I really hope that you'll all sponsor me, even just £1 would be fantastic!
Here's why:
I am INCREDIBLY SQUEAMISH - I can't even eat the fat on a steak or egg whites...
And yet to raise money for St. Luke's (Cheshire) Hospice I am going to be eating a lunch of insects and critters as part of Nantwich Food Festival 2015.
Yup...I'm sweating already, however at 3.30pm on 6th September in St. Mary's Church, Nantwich I shall be sat with the other contestants being served some hideous bugs and trying to eat them as quickly as possible!
Why? That's a very good question!
5 years ago in November Bongo and I lost a very dear friend of ours: Richard Moss Williams. His wife Paula, Richard, Manny and I were always together cooking and creating dishes in their kitchen and it was as a foursome that we first talked ideas about starting a food business.
Richard was diagnosed with cancer and became very ill incredibly quickly and we tried our best to help the family as much as we could. Sadly our prayers and love weren't enough, it was a heartbreaking situation beyond any of our control.
Throughout this time the family were supported by the wonderful Macmillan nurses supplied by St Luke's (Cheshire) Hospice, which meant that Richard could fullfill his wish to remain at home. After he passed the family were continuously helped by St. Lukes. By raising money for the charity means that other families will be able to make the same choices that Richard was able.
Now I can't climb a mountain or swim the channel but I think I can conquer my fears of bugs and eat a healthy protein rich lunch? Can't I??????
If you can support me even by pledging £1 I'd be very grateful to you. I'd like to raise as much money as possible in Richard's name, as without the memories of his enthusiasm and encouragement it's likely that Manny and I might never have started Bongo's Rock & Roll Pickles in the first place!
To you Richard, with my love! I know you'd get a huge kick out of this crazy event!
