Thank you so much to all of you who donated to our scrubs fund - here's an update!

As you may remember at the end of April I decided to start a fund to raise money for scrub sets for our local nurses and doctors who were struggling to get appropriate PPE, especially as new rules came into force from the NHS. So I did my research, started a fund and boy did you guys help me out!

We had donations of money, time, driving, paper, sellotape (for printing patterns) material, sewing machine needles, an overlocker, rolls of material for scrub bags, cotton, elastic, webbing, labels and all! It was an astonishing out pouring of kindness and I’m so grateful to each and every one of you who helped financially or physically. However the real stars of this effort is my Mum, Bee Bouchard (Momma Bongo) and my neighbour Judi Pitcher who have spent hours and hours sat in front of their sewing machines (and continue to do so to help those that still need scrubs) These ladies have such skill and I’m constantly amazed by their abilities, and I know that the local doctors and nurses are truly grateful for their effort.

So just to catch you all up: we have raised £750!!!!!! Yup £750 to buy materials for scrubs donated by 35 of you. That’s incredibly generous of you all thank you so much. So far we’ve used 135 metres of material and made/distributed 26 sets of scrubs and scrub bags to Weaverham Surgery, Brookvale Surgery and local District Nurses. We have enough material left to sew 12 more sets and a little of the money left over which I’m keeping aside in case we need more cotton etc to complete them. Then we’ll make the decision whether to get more material with what’s left or to donate the remaining money to NHS Charities. (Depends on whether my Mum still has the energy to sew anymore sets!)

So whilst My Mum and I keep cutting, sewing (her) and organising (me) here’s a list of all the ROCKIN folks we have to thank, If I’ve left anyone off please forgive me and let me know!

Huge thanks to Bee Bouchard, Judi Pitcher, Liz Moore, Chris Forshaw, Heather Jane Warburton, Charlotte Heptinstall, Sues Williams, Brian Pitcher, Jo Williams, Brian Forshaw, Rachel Trafford, Linda Holloway, Michelle Ellams, Philly Davenport, Maria Wright, Karen Crawford, Stevan David Stanley and all of you who donated.

I’d also like to thank Dawn from The Elizabeth Arnold Sewing Studio in Lady Hayes for her help and advice early on when I was learning how to cut out a pattern and sort everything out!
