"It's tapas Jim but not as we know it" - The Gourmet Gays Supper Club was out of this world!

'An Evening in Seville' was the title for our very first experience of the foodie phenomenon - a supper club. For those that don't know supper clubs are hosted by folks in their own home who showcase their culinary skills to strangers that buy tickets to attend.

Bongo and I piled in the V-Dub, leaving deepest Cheshire and headed for the bright lights of vibrant Manchester not really knowing what to expect when we arrived. As supper club virgins we were slightly nervous at the thought of having dinner with folks we don't know but these nerves were banished the moment we set foot in The Gourmet Gays front door.

Carl and Stephen are such lovely gentlemen and the atmosphere was so welcoming in their beautiful apartment that we were instantly at ease. Any house you step into that is as quirky and cool as their's (complete with Kung- Foo Banksy Panda on the wall) makes you feel at home. Everywhere you look there are little details of where they've travelled, their foodie journeys, their fav cook books - it's eclectic, quirky and absorbing!

After the arrival and introduction of the other guests, all experienced supper club folks, we sat down to eat some of the best tapas this foodie bird has ever tasted. The amount of effort and energy put into the elegant yet fun presentation was astonishing but this food didn't just look good it tasted amazing! It was a thrilling meal as you can see from the pics.

It was particularly difficult to pick out any dish on this fabulous menu as stand out- it really was all delicious but if you're holding a clicking castanet to our heads - Bongo would pick the clam escabeche and I would have to say the cod cheeks!

So, in conclusion, BOOK their next supper club event, BOOK early because the tickets are going to fly out! And if you do- we'll see you there! It's an exceptional evening hosted by lovely people with a fabulous genuine flair for food!

Enjoy Manchester you lucky sods!
